Principe: a new chapter of Italian excellence on our shelves
Principe is one of Italy’s most respected names in salumi, mixing deep tradition with regional craftsmanship. Founded in 1945 in the northeast of Italy, the company grew from a small family-run laboratorio into a producer recognized worldwide for authenticity, purity, and uncompromising quality. What began in Trieste expanded into San Daniele del Friuli, where Principe built its first dedicated prosciutto-aging facility.
Today, Principe continues to honour its heritage while embracing modern standards. What makes them special is their dedication to simplicity: only premium pork legs, sea salt, air, and time. No shortcuts. No additives. Just Italian tradition preserved through careful curing, expertise, and strict regional protection.

Principe, Prosciutto di San Daniele; why it stands out
This prosciutto is produced exclusively in the town of San Daniele del Friuli: its micro-climate of alpine winds meeting sea breeze is part of what gives it a one of its kind flavour. It uses only three ingredients: Italian pork leg, sea salt, and nature. No added nitrates or nitrites, no artificial flavours.
Aged for 16 to 20 months, the result is velvet-like texture, subtle marbling, a gentle sweetness, and a complexity you can only try when in Italy.
Protected under the DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) designation, which guarantees origin, quality and tradition.
Serving at its best
This one is perfect on its own: thin-sliced, simply arranged, little drizzles of extra virgin olive oil, fresh bread, maybe melon or figs.
On your charcuterie board: it pairs beautifully with mild cheeses, marinated olives, crostini, and a glass of white wine or prosecco.
In pasta or risotto: fold-in at the very end for richness without overpowering.
Storage tip: keep refrigerated, and always serve at room temperature so the fat is soft and the flavour opens up.
Why we’re proud to carry it
As part of our commitment to authentic Italian taste and premium craftsmanship, we’re thrilled to bring Principe’s line into our store. This prosciutto delivers. It aligns perfectly with our desire of slowing down, gathering around good food, and celebrating real flavours.
