Lina has always been a woman of strong culture and values with an outstanding work ethic. She moved to Canada when she was only 16. In her future Canadian years Lina began to dream and had aspirations of spreading her culture throughout the Calgarian community.
In June of 1994 she made that dream a reality when she opened her store “Lina’s Italian Market & Cappuccino Bar”. After much dedication, determination, and enthusiasm her store was a wonder to behold and people’s curiosity grew for her Italian specialty market. Lina contributed to the community in more ways than imaginable, and always had a lending hand available.
For 7 years the small square footage performed to its max. With crowds storming in daily from open until close, the friendly staff was always busy and ready to educate customers and let them sample products. From the stocked shelves, Pastries, coffee and pizza to authentic Italian dishes being cooked and served, customers came in for the whole package. Combining lunch, groceries, and a true Italian cultural experience with Lina’s warm heart, love for food, and amazing business sense was the perfect recipe for success.
In 2001, it was time to expand as in those seven year’s Lina’s Italian Market had an astounding response from consumers and the community. Lina knew it was important to take this step as the response from the community proved to her that they wanted more!
Currently, Lina’s Italian Market possesses a full deli, bakery, cappuccino bar, produce section, kitchenware, and a full specialty grocery line. The atmosphere has always been and remains warm, homey, friendly, and exhilarating. Lina’s goal is to keep educating the customer about her culture and values. Finally, her biggest payoff is seeing the customers smile, knowing that they are satisfied with our services/products, and that they will leave having been touched and embraced by a true Italian experience!
In addition, in 2005 Lina once more contributed to the community by opening Boccavino Lounge and Grill.
